We had a chance to have Brian Wong of Kiip, one of our Social Media Week Bogota speakers, share his thoughts on Social Media Week and the tech landscape of Colombia.

Café de Colombia – Branding at Its Best
by Ted Rubin (@TedRubin)
I met Juan Valdez — yes, the “actual” Juan Valdez — this week (more on that at the end of this post)! The fact that I am genuinely excited about this, and that you likely know who (and what) I’m referencing here says a lot about the success of this brand. Café de Colombia is a brilliant example of what can happen when relationships are placed in the forefront of all aspects of an industry – from production, to sales and distribution, to marketing, and beyond.
Social Media Week Bogota: Day Four
The hits just keep coming at Social Media Week Bogota!
From the cab driver who Tweets – and is quite a celebrity in Bogota – to our friend Jonathan Richman of Dose of Digital, the audience – IRL and online was full and had a ton of great questions to ask!
We were also, once again, were treated to Juan Valdez coffee all day and served beer courtesy of Miller at the end of the day. What an amazing time. We can’t believe that today is the last day of this amazing week!
If you’re not able to join us in person, please make sure to join us on Livestream – there’s still great stuff to come!
Social Media Week Bogota: Day Three
Can you believe that it’s already day four of Social Media Week Bogota? We know we can’t! It’s been an amazing week so far and we have two full days of speakers and, of course, Beer O’clocks and our closing party. (You can see the full agenda here.)
The morning of day three focused on how ordinary citizens can change their cities. We had a great panel with Ricardo Arango of Mejor en Bici, Megan Dalton of US based SeeClickFix and German Sarmiento of MiBlogota. They spoke about how social media platforms can help everyday people make their cities better by giving them tools to connect with each other to drive initiatives and action and how they could use these tools to also push the local governments to make improvements – and that local governments can use these tools, too.
We came back after lunch and had a packed house listening to conversations on social gaming.
Zemoga’s own Sebastian Trujillo closed the day with an amazing presentation on the use of social media in mobile apps and games. A topic that he knows a lot about!
Not able to join us in person? View all the presentations as they happen on Livestream!
Social Media Week Bogota: Day Two
Another great day at Social Media Week Bogota!
We started off the day with a great talk from Suzanne Hall of the United States State Department. She talked about how social media could be – and is being – used to promote diplomacy.
She was followed by Luis Fernando Samper, of Cafe de Colombia, speaking to connectivity in rural areas – and how we need to make sure that the social media platforms and technologies that we are used to having always at our fingertips is made available to everyone.
The rest of the day focused on how Colombia is using social media to push forward, how learning can blend into Twitter, making digital citizens and the paradoxes of self 2.0. You can catch up with Social Media Week Bogota on Livestream, where you can view many of the presentations you might have missed.
Social Media Week Bogota: Day One
The Z-team came through with a great Day One of Social Media Week.
Amongst the amazing speakers were Christian Lisogorsky, Peter Shankman and Ted Rubin, along with all the candidates for Mayor of Bogotá and so many more.
But one of the highlights of the day?
Juan Valdez delivering coffee to Peter Shankman at a cafe in Bogotá.

Social Media Week Bogota: Poke Back!
¡Feliz Cumpleaños, Alejo!
Monday was the birthday of Zemoga’s President, Alejandro Gomez. Here’s a lovely video the Z-team made for him. It’s in Spanish, but whether you speak it or not, you’ll definitely feel the love!
