Adios 2009, Bienvenidos 2010!

2009 was a year of ups and downs for many but as we head into a new year, we find ourselves optimistic and grateful for all the support and care we get from our clients, partners, colleagues, families and friends.

We’ll be taking tomorrow off from blogging but will be back on the 4th with our usual musings about what is coming next.

In the meantime, here’s wishing you champagne toasts, kisses at midnight and all the best in the coming year … From Bogota With Love.

Paradigm Are You Ready for 2010?

All things are ready, if our minds be so.” – Henry V, Shakespeare

There are a lot of bloggers weighing in with their predictions for 2010 this week. People are proclaiming the coming 12 months as “The Year Social Media Grows Up”, “The Year Traditional and Digital Agencies Converge”, “The Year of MObile” and many,

Our Top 10 for 2009 …

… blog posts that is. We kicked off FBWL at the start of 2009 and 275 posts later, it’s revealing to see which posts garnered the most reader interest. In descending order, here are the entries that generated the most traffic on our blog:

Happy Holidays& Felices Fiestas

Quiet Santa

We believe in work/life balance here at Zemoga so FBWL will be going dark from tomorrow through to the 28th. Don’t worry, we’ll be back on the 29th with some final thoughts for the year. In the meantime, no matter what your traditions are or where you are headed this holiday know that everyone in the Zemoga family wishes you and yours the best of the season. The First Rule of Visual Communication

By Sven Larsen (@zemoga)

What’s the first rule of storytelling? Show, don’t tell.

This terrific video from Whirled Interactive does just that, showing off all of Google Wave’s different features and (possibly) explaining what this new digital tool is good for:

Welcome to ZBGB's Redux

By DJ Edgerton (@wiltonbound)

We’ve had such a tremendous response to the videos from our holiday party that we thought we would share some of the photographic evidence from the bash of the year as well! Don’t worry Zemoga followers, there’s plenty of other videos and pictures of the various performances sitting in the Zemoga vault. We’re frantically working to edit the footage and share the highlights of the biggest music event since the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame came to Soho. In the meantime, enjoy this sampling of pics from the event …

What Monty Python Can Teach Us About Strategy

By Sven Larsen (@zemoga)

Remember Monty Python and the Holy Grail? Remember the scene where the body collector is trying to force a live person in to his cart? Despite the man’s protests of “I’m not dead yet.”, John Cleese‘s character persists in his task, eventually knocking the man out in order to get him on the cart (**Warning – the video contains some NSFW language at the end**).

Sometimes I feel like we’re guilty of that when we think about business strategy. As technologists and futurists we’re fascinated by the new, by potential, by the next big thing. But sometimes in our rush to that next industry or technology we miss the potential of what’s been left behind. Read more

How Much Would You Pay to Shave Your Client's Head?

We told you last week about Sears Director of UX, Andrew Daniel was planning to shave his head for charity and we wanted to let everyone know that Andrew is a man who delivers on his promises. In total Andrew raised $2786 (including a $500 donation from Zemoga) for the Make a Wish Foundation. We didn’t get the honor of actually chopping off Andrew’s flowing locks but you can see he gave us some t-shirt love. Congratulations to Andrew and everyone who contributed to this very worthy cause!
